Why Klippy exists
Most phone advice asks too much, too early.
It is easy to say that you should use your phone less. It is much harder to decide what that means on a normal day when your phone is also how you talk to people, get directions, pay for things, work, learn, and unwind.
Klippy starts from a narrower view. Some parts of your phone are useful. Some apps or moments may be pulling you into a habit you did not choose. Those are different problems, and they deserve different answers.
The goal is not to make technology feel like a moral failure. It is to make the tradeoffs more visible so you can decide what is worth changing.
Private by default
The screen time calculator runs with the values you type in your browser. It does not connect to your iPhone or need your private activity data.
Useful without a hard sell
A tool should stand on its own. If another product is genuinely useful afterward, that next step should be obvious and optional.

Start with an honest picture of the habit.
The first Klippy tool is a screen time calculator. It turns an average daily number into totals you can see across a week, year, and longer period. It cannot tell you which hours are worth keeping. It can give you a clearer starting point for deciding that yourself.
Future tools will follow the same principle. They should be simple enough to use in a minute and specific enough to help with a real choice. No generic score. No promise that one setting solves everything.
